Anna was born in Aktyubinsk, Kazakhstan and grew up in a small city near Stuttgart, Germany. Throughout her life, she has always tried to find a good balance between both cultures while at the same time, figuring out which culture and lifestyle she prefers most.
Now, at the age of 23, she is glad that she has been raised bi-culturally and sees it as a tremendousouly beneficial experience which has helped her better adapt to certain situations in her life.
After she graduated from high school, she wanted not just to discover more about her own culture but discover other cultures throughout the world, by learning about history, communication, and different traditions. She began her formal studies in Anthropology and Chinese Studies at the Eberhard Karls University in Tuebingen and graduated with a Bachelor of Arts degree 3 1/2 years later.
During college, she also took additional language courses in Russian and Japanese and spent a month in Greece with AIESEC, a non-governmental, not-for-profit organization, where she taught Greek pupils about cultural differences and similarities between Germany and Greece. Furthermore, she participated in the Student Exchange Program of her University and lived three months at the National Chengchi University in Taipei, Taiwan, which was her first time studying and traveling in Asia. This experience showed her that living abroad is very different than just being on vacation with family and friends. She also better appreciates how difficult it is to live alone in a foreign country without any relatives nearby. For her, the experience strengthened her self-confidence and open-mindedness and learned that traveling helps you open up both your heart and mind.
Her current internship at CEPA offers her the perfect opportunity to look behind the scenes of students and faculty members traveling on their programs and she will gain new skills by being responsible for others. Most importantly, she is looking forward to ensuring they can gather as many new experiences as possible while abroad.
