Sandra de la Riva
CEPA Strasbourg Program Manager
Sandra is Peruvian, Bolivian, American and has over 10 years of experience in international relations and translations. She completed her dual undergraduate studies in International Relations and French from Lake Forest College in Illinois, USA. During her studies, she studied abroad in France, Scotland, and Mexico. Additionally, she had the opportunity to work as a Senior Fellow for a cultural exchange program in Brazil.
After her undergraduate studies, Sandra worked and lived in Peru, Bolivia, the USA, and France. In Peru, she volunteered for an NGO in a small town in Chincha, Peru. Here she had the opportunity to work with the youth of the town, running recreational programs and tutoring classes for the organization. After her volunteer service, Sandra returned to France to work as an Assistant Director for a language immersion camp, and eventually returned to the USA to work as a Business Manager prior to starting her master’s degree.
In 2018, Sandra undertook a master’s in Sociology from the University of Strasbourg, in Strasbourg France. Here she had the opportunity to intern with CEPA as well as work with a United Nations agency, the International Labour Organization (ILO). Her work at CEPA and with the ILO motivated her to continue her studies, peaking her passion for international relations and human rights. Currently, she is completing additional studies where she is focusing on human and women’s rights.
Some of Sandra’s hobbies include learning about new cultures and languages, weightlifting, sports, and dancing. She enjoys dancing bachata and salsa with her family and friends as well as cooking Peruvian dishes for her loved ones.
Sandra speaks English, Spanish, French, and Portuguese fluently. She has a basic knowledge of German and can communicate at a low intermediate level in Italian.
