Abigail Schleicher - University Relations

Abigail is originally from Madison, Wisconsin, but has lived, studied and worked abroad for many years. In her first study abroad experience to Oxford, England, she had the unique opportunity of being the only American in her program amongst forty other nationalities. At the ripe age of 16, this widened her perspective of the world and her desire to be a part of a global community. She returned back to Wisconsin to study at Concordia University and achieved a Bachelor of Arts in Social Science.

Before she moved to Germany, Abigail was an aide for a State Representative and Senator. There she was given the opportunity to work on important legislation. Perhaps surprising was that the more rewarding part of working in politics was the constituent relations. She felt that she could make a difference through assisting constituents to find their way through the overwhelming process of trying to figure out the “system” and she could see the impact on their lives. This might have been everything from assisting someone who was not able to gain access to their food stamp benefits to helping someone’s devastating story change legislation.

When she first arrived in Germany, Abigail had the great pleasure of teaching English. As she says, "the real treat of language instruction is seeing someone being able to communicate in another language." She has always been drawn to supporting others and building relationships. That is where she strives.

She joined our CEPA family in 2013 and as Assistant Director of University Relations her main responsibilities include: maintaining our partnerships with universities, overseeing our Ambassador program, managing student inquiries, and admissions for summer programs.

When she is not working, Abigail enjoys being outdoors with her pup, cooking, doing yoga, and perfecting her German. Most of all going on adventures with her partner in crime.
