The Scandinavian healthcare systems are well known for their great quality in service and support. Especially the system in Norway is founded on several beliefs such as free choice of provider, universal access, and decentralization. In general, healthcare services in Norway are not for free, but as soon as the individual fee of a patient exceeds roughly 200 USD, all further services will be free of charge – for the rest of the year.

  • DAY 1

    • Overnight flight to Oslo, Norway (group flight can be booked separately)

  • DAY 2-3: OSLO

    Stay 8 nights at a 3-star hotel in Oslo

    • Arrival at Oslo Gardermoen Airport (OSL)
    • Check-in at the hotel and orientation session by your CEPA On-Site Coordinator
    • Guided walking tour of Oslo, during which you will see some of the city’s highlights, such as the Vigelandsparken and the Opera House
    • Welcome dinner at a Norwegian restaurant
    • Admission to the National Museum of Medicine, which features a permanent exhibition that explains how people’s lives have changed and improved in public health in over 150 years
    • Visit a nursing home for people that can no longer live on their own. Patients get treatment in different forms, such as physiotherapy or the upkeep of haptic skills.

  • DAY 4: LILLEHAMMER

    • Admission to the Maihaugen Open-Air Museum, showing you the life of Norwegians from the 12th century until today. The open-air museum consists of more than 200 buildings.
    • Admission to Sigrid Undset’s House to learn about her life from her childhood, the life as a housewife and mother, her Nobel Prize, and the fight against the Nazis during WWII

  • DAY 5-10: OSLO

    • Free day to further explore the city
    • Visit a community hospital in Oslo. Most of the hospitals are state driven but have the right to decide what to spend their annual budget on together with the community.
    • Admission to the Nobel Peace Center, which is home to the annual Nobel Peace Award. One of the exhibitions features the Peace Price Laureates, filled with information, photos, and videos about each of their lives and work.
    • Group dinner at a Norwegian restaurant
    • Visit a health insurance company that supports citizens in question regarding health services as well as different insurance models
    • Guided tour of the Opera House of Oslo, during which you will get an insight behind the scenes, the workshop, as well as the paint studio. Additionally, you will learn about the exceptional architecture and stage technology of Oslo’s most famous building.
    • Visit a Frisklivssentral, which can be described as a consulting center. People who are registered citizens of Norway can get advice on how to lose weight, get emotional support by a therapist, or start to quit smoking.
    • Visit the Akershus Fortress. It is a great place to discover the history of the city as well as to enjoy the view over the skyline of Oslo. The surrounding park is known as the “green lungs” of Oslo and a famous recreational spot for citizens.
    • Admission to the Viking Ship Museum, which is home to the world’s best-preserved Viking ships and finds from the Viking tombs of the Oslo Fjord. The museum also features different textiles and household utensils and tells the story of the world-famous people from the early middle ages.
    • Free afternoon to discover the capital of Norway further at your own pace
    • Farewell dinner at a Norwegian restaurant
    • Departure from Oslo Gardermoen Airport (OSL)
