This engaging and interactive study abroad program combines classroom instruction with high-profile guest lectures, visits, and excursions, as well as practical training elements in the areas of goal finding, human rights, mediation, dispute resolution, social responsibility, peace building, and intercultural negotiation skills to prepare students for their future career goals to become leaders in a globalized world.

DAY 1
- Overnight flight to Frankfurt, Germany (group flight can be booked separately)
DAY 2: FRANKFURT - STRASBOURG
- Arrival at Frankfurt International Airport (FRA)
Stay 11 nights at the European Study Center Strasbourg (Château de Pourtalès)
- Check-in at the Château and orientation session by your CEPA On-Site Coordinator
- Welcome dinner at a French restaurant
DAY 2-6: STRASBOURG
- Guest lecture on “European Identity” (or “French/German Identity”)
- Guided walking tour of the city of Strasbourg
- Visit the permanent exhibition “Lieu d’Europe” to learn about the European Union and its institutions
- Visit a European Institution, e.g. the European Parliament or the Council of Europe
- Guest lecture to learn about “Peace Building and Conflict Resolution in Europe – Current Issues, e.g. Refugees”
- Outdoor workshop on leadership practices
- Guided tour of the Historical Museum Strasbourg
- Free afternoon to explore the “Capital of Europe”
DAY 7: ALSACE
- Bus tour along the famous “Route du Vin” (wine route)
- Guided tour of the Haut Koenigsbourg Castle
- Admission to the former concentration camp Struthof

DAY 8: KEHL - STRASBOURG
- Visit and guest lecture at the Euro Institute Kehl to learn about “Benefits of Cross-Border Cooperation – Germany/France as an Example”
- Visit the Rhine River bridge in Kehl and walk across, from Germany to France, to underscore the French and German unification
DAY 9-10: STRASBOURG
- Guest lecture on “Doing Business in France and Germany”
- Visit the Franco-German local institution “ARTE TV”
- Executive Leadership training day with a focus on self-leadership
DAY 11: OFFENBURG - FREIBURG
- Business visit in Germany to learn about sustainable productions and solutions, e.g. at Peter Huber Kältemaschinen GmbH, the technology leader for high-precision thermoregulation in research and industry
- Free afternoon in Freiburg, Germany
DAY 12-13: STRASBOURG
- Visit the US Consulate General in Strasbourg
- Free afternoon in Strasbourg
- Farewell dinner at a French restaurant
- Departure from Frankfurt International Airport (FRA)

This course will enable students to examine the historical, philosophical, and leadership-oriented roots of western higher education. Students will examine the infrastructure and progressive evolution of higher education from medieval universities, to civic-oriented institutions, to open-access mass systems. In this cross-disciplinary program, students will deconstruct the context and infrastructure to discover how leadership has shaped higher education and how education has shaped today’s leaders.

DAY 1
- Overnight flight to Frankfurt, Germany (group flight can be booked separately)
DAY 2-3: FRANKFURT
- Orientation session by your on-site CEPA coordinator
- Welcome dinner at a German restaurant
- Guided tour of the German Albert Schweitzer Museum to learn about the life and work of one of the world’s great philanthropists
- Visit to the Albert Schweitzer School to learn about how they integrate Schweitzerian philosophies and concepts into their educational strategy

DAY 4-6: STRASBOURG
- Orientation with your on-site coordinator in Strasbourg
- Guided boat tour of the Ill river. This trip will take you past the gothic churches, historic bridges, and other cultural landmarks in Strasbourg and Petit France
- Admission to the Musée Historique where you will learn about the unique ethnographic and cultural history of the region, including its economic legacy, and significance in the Franco-German relationship
- Visit to the French Albert Schweitzer Museum to gain a comparative perpective of his theories in leadership and education
DAY 7: ALSACE - ROUTE DU VIN
- Guided bus tour of Alsace’s famous wine route (“Route du Vin”) including lunch in an Alsacian village
- Guided tour of Haut Königsbourg castle
- Guided tour of the former concentration camp Struthof

DAY 8-13: STRASBOURG
- Institutional visit to the European Parliament to learn about international leadership in politics and policy
- Institutional visit to the Council of Europe to learn about its history, foundation, and current leadership in protecting human rights, promoting democracy and transparency
- Yoga and Leadership seminar to learn about how yoga and non-traditional practices can enhance your leadership and listening skills
- Visit to a local institution of higher education that focuses on practical training for individuals looking to enter the field of education, including teaching, events and group management, and occupational training
- Farewell dinner at a traditional Winstub
