“To understand a culture, learn its language” is the motto of this study abroad program. While at the Goethe-Institut in Berlin, students can successfully enhance their German skills for their studies and future career. During the planned excursions, as well as during their free time, students will soon discover that Germany is a country with many unique characteristics. It is full of history and tradition, but at the same time, known for innovation and technology.

DAY 1
- Overnight flight to Berlin, Germany (group flight can be booked separately)
DAY 2: BERLIN
Stay 14 nights at a youth hotel in Berlin
- Arrival at Berlin Tegel Airport (TXL)

DAY 3-7: BERLIN

- Guided tour of the Bauhaus Dessau Foundation, a center of research, teaching, and experimental design

DAY 10-15: BERLIN
- German language training at the Goethe-Institut
- Special cultural and leisure activities designed to complement the course

DAY 16-18: MEISSEN - DRESDEN
Stay 3 nights at a 2-star hotel in Dresden
- Guided tour of the Meissen Porcelain manufacturer, where the first German white porcelain was produced in 1708
- Check-in at the hotel and orientation session by your CEPA On-Site Coordinator
- Steamboat tour on the Elbe River to get a first impression of Dresden, the capital of Saxony
- Guided tour of the palatial complex Dresdner Zwinger and its “Old Masters Picture Gallery”
- Audio-guided tour of the rebuilt Frauenkirche, which was destroyed in the firebombing of Dresden during World War II

The first principle of international management is to recognize and appreciate the considerable diversity of countries in the global economy. Since the fall of the Berlin Wall in 1989, the Central and Eastern European countries have grown and developed in many ways.

The purpose of this program is to give students an overview of the political, economic, and culturally diverse environments in Austria as well as in selected Central and Eastern European countries. Students will also come to understand the tremendous challenges that these countries are currently facing.

DAY 1
- Overnight flight to Zagreb, Croatia (group flight can be booked separately)
DAY 2-3: ZAGREB
Stay 2 nights at a 3-star hotel in Zagreb
- Arrival at Zagreb Airport Franjo Tuđman (ZAG)
- Check-in at the hotel and orientation session by your CEPA On-Site Coordinator
- Guided walking tour of Zagreb
- Welcome dinner at a Croatian restaurant
- Visit the Zagreb Stock Exchange (ZSE) and learn about its history as well as current issues and developments

DAY 4-5: LJUBLJANA

- Guided walking tour of Ljubljana
- Admission to the Ljubljana Castle, which is located at the Castle Hill
- Visit a company, such as Petrol, the principal strategic supplier of oil and other energy products to the Slovenian market
- Free afternoon to explore the city

DAY 6: GRAZ - VIENNA
Stay 4 nights at a hostel in Vienna
- Free time in Graz
- Visit an Austrian brewery in Graz (tasting included)
- Check-in at the hostel and orientation session by your CEPA On-Site Coordinator
DAY 7-9: VIENNA - MELK
- Visit a bank, such as Raiffeisen International or Bawak PSK, and learn about their operations and the financial situation in Austria
- Visit an international organization, such as OPEC (Organization of the Petroleum Exporting Countries) and learn about current issues of the global oil market
- Admission to the Schönbrunn Palace, which is one of the most important cultural monuments in Austria
- Free afternoon to explore the city
- Round-trip train tickets to and from Melk
- Guided tour of the Melk Abbey, whose baroque building is one of the biggest and most beautiful
- Enjoy coffee and cake at a traditional Austrian coffee house in Vienna

DAY 10: BRATISLAVA - BUDAPEST
- Visit an automobile manufacturer, such as Volkswagen Slovakia
- Free time in Bratislava

DAY 11-13: BUDAPEST
- Visit the European Commission Representation at the House of the European Union and learn about Hungary’s membership and role within the EU
- Visit the U.S. Embassy to get an overview of the business and trade relations between Hungary and North America
- Guided tour of the Great Market Hall to learn more about Hungarian food and specialties (tasting included)
- Free afternoon to explore the city
- Farewell dinner at a Hungarian restaurant
- Departure from Budapest Liszt Ferenc Airport (BUD)

Every extra kilogram on a plane, train, or bus increases energy consumption. A "carry-on only" rule is a win for both the planet and your back.

Cultural Behaviour

Learn the "Golden Three": Learning "Hello," "Please," and "Thank you" in the local language is more than a courtesy; it signals respect for the local identity and immediately changes the dynamic of your interactions.

Travel routes

By basing a program in one location and building in day excursions, we can minimize the environmental impact.

Eat "KM 0"

Look for restaurants with the "Kilometro Zero" label (common in Italy and Spain), which guarantees ingredients are sourced locally.

Water

Refill Stations: Europe has some of the cleanest tap water in the world. Use apps like Refill to find public fountains and avoid buying plastic bottles.

Climate Action

We offset the carbon footprint of our operations and programs, and plant one native tree for each participant in a CEPA study abroad program.

Travel in the "Shoulder" Season

Visiting in March or October helps distribute income to locals year-round and prevents the "ghost town" effect that happens in tourist hubs during winter.

They will visit Europe’s major financial centers, Frankfurt and London, and have the opportunity to interact directly with professionals in various financial and accounting organizations.

Students will learn about regulations, policies, and current challenges governing the Economic and Monetary Union of the EU as well as the economic status of the United Kingdom after Brexit.

DAY 1: FRANKFURT

- Visit the German Stock Exchange to learn about its history, about tradable products, listings and indices, and to be introduced to floor and Xetra trading
- Visit the Federal Republic of Germany – Finance Agency for a lecture on “Funding the German Budget – from Planning to Execution” by a representative of the agency
- Visit Germany’s Federal Financial Supervisory Authority (BaFin), which is an autonomous public-law institution and subject to the legal and technical oversight of the Federal Ministry of Finance

DAY 5-7: BRUSSELS

- Visit the European Commission, the body responsible for proposing legislation, implementing decisions, and upholding the Union’s treaties
- Visit the World Bank Group, a development bank, which, for instance, fights poverty and improves the living standards of people in the developing world by providing them with loans
- Free time to visit the Atomium, the landmark of the Belgian capital
- Visit the European Parliament, which represents the citizens of the member states of the European Union, and afterwards time to explore the Parlamentarium, the European Parliament’s Visitor Center, which displays the European integration and the impact it has on our everyday lives
- Guest lecture on “Navigating the EU Green Taxonomy and ESG Reporting Mandates” by a local economics expert to discuss how sustainability laws are transforming corporate accounting, green financing, and investment compliance across Europe.

DAY 8-13: LONDON
Stay 5 nights at a 3-star hotel in London
- Eurostar train tickets from Brussels to London
- Check-in at the hotel and orientation session by your CEPA On-Site Coordinator
- Guided walking tour of London’s Westminster area to get a first impression of the capital of Great Britain, including Buckingham Palace, Big Ben, Downing Street No. 10, and many more
- Admission to the Tower of London to discover 1,000 years of British history by joining one of the Beefeaters during a public tour
- Free afternoon in London to discover the city
- Visit Lloyd’s of London, which serves as a meeting place where financial bankers, underwriters, or members, whether individuals or corporations, come together to pool and spread risk
- Visit a transatlantic trade organization, such as the American Chamber of Commerce (AmCham), to learn how they advocate for cross-border business, promote exports of goods and services between the US and UK markets, and facilitate bilateral investment.
- Guest lecture on “The effect of Geo-political crises on the UK economy” by a local economics expert
- Visit a consulting company, e.g. Deloitte LLP, to learn about their operations in the field of finances and tax advisory services
- Visit the Financial Conduct Authority, which regulates the financial services industry in the United Kingdom with the aim to protect consumers, ensure the industry remains stable, and promote healthy competition between financial services providers
- Classroom available for 2 hours at a local university for final group discussions
- Farewell dinner at a British pub
- Departure from London Heathrow Airport (LHR)
