This program will help students develop a better understanding of the economy, culture, customs, and accounting practices in Europe. They will visit Europe’s major financial centers, Frankfurt and London, and have the opportunity to interact directly with professionals in various financial and accounting organizations.

Students will learn about regulations, policies, and current challenges governing the Economic and Monetary Union of the EU as well as the situation of the United Kingdom after the Brexit.

  • DAY 1: FRANKFURT

    • Overnight flight to Frankfurt, Germany
      (group flight can be booked separately)
  • DAY 2-4: FRANKFURT

    Stay 3 nights at a 3-star hotel in Frankfurt

    • Arrival at Frankfurt International Airport (FRA)
    • Check-in at the hotel and orientation session by your CEPA On-Site Coordinator
    • Guided walking tour of Frankfurt, focusing on “The Financial Aspects of the City”; seat of the stock exchange, concentration of bank headquarters, and seat of the European Central Bank
    • Welcome dinner at a traditional German restaurant
    • Visit the European Central Bank, one of the world‘s most important central banks, responsible for monetary policy covering the member states of the Eurozone
    • Visit the German Stock Exchange to learn about its history, about tradable products, listings and indices, and to be introduced to floor and Xetra trading
    • Visit the Federal Republic of Germany – Finance Agency for a lecture on “Funding the German Budget – from Planning to Execution” by a representative of the agency
    • Visit Germany’s Federal Financial Supervisory Authority (BaFin), which is an autonomous public-law institution and subject to the legal and technical oversight of the Federal Ministry of Finance
  • DAY 5-7: BRUSSELS

    Stay 3 nights at a 3-star hotel in Brussels

    • Train tickets from Frankfurt to Brussels
    • Check-in at the hotel and orientation session by your CEPA On-Site Coordinator
    • Visit the European Commission, the body responsible for proposing legislation, implementing decisions, and upholding the Union’s treaties
    • Visit the World Bank Group, a development bank, which, for instance, fights poverty and improves the living standards of people in the developing world by providing them with loans
    • Free time to visit the Atomium, the landmark of the Belgian capital
    • Visit the European Parliament, which represents the citizens of the member states of the European Union, and afterwards time to explore the Parlamentarium, the European Parliament’s Visitor Center, which displays the European integration and the impact it has on our everyday lives
    • Guest lecture on “The Economic Fallout of the Coronavirus Crisis” by a local economics expert
  • DAY 8-13: LONDON

    Stay 5 nights at a 3-star hotel in London

    • Eurostar train tickets from Brussels to London
    • Check-in at the hotel and orientation session by your CEPA On-Site Coordinator
    • Guided walking tour of London’s Westminster area to get a first overview of the capital of Great Britain, including Buckingham Palace, Big Ben, Downing Street No. 10, and many more
    • Admission to the Tower of London to discover 1,000 years of British history by joining one of the Beefeaters during a public tour
    • Free afternoon in London to discover the city
    • Visit Lloyd’s of London, which serves as a meeting place where financial bankers, underwriters, or members, whether individuals or corporations, come together to pool and spread risk
    • Visit the U.S. Embassy to learn how it promotes exports of U.S. goods and services into the UK market and inward investment into the U.S.
    • Guest lecture on “UK’s Economic Situation after the Brexit” by a local economics expert
    • Visit a consulting company, e.g. Accenture, to learn about their operations in the field of finances and tax advisory services
    • Visit the Financial Conduct Authority, which regulates the financial services industry in the United Kingdom with the aim to protect consumers, ensure the industry remains stable, and promote healthy competition between financial services providers
    • Classroom available for 2 hours at a local university for final group discussions
    • Farewell dinner at a British pub
    • Departure from London Heathrow Airport (LHR)
