For future engineers wanting to wrap their minds around today’s global economy, visiting Southern Germany places them in the heart of the European and international automobile industry.

Some of the most significant inventions of all time come from this region. Carl Benz, for example, invented the first gasoline powered automobile and his wife Bertha was the first person to make a long-distance journey.

The region continues to be very attractive for automobile companies like BMW, Daimler, and Opel as well as for many other companies operating in the high-tech sector.

DAY 1
- Overnight flight to Frankfurt, Germany (group flight can be booked separately)
DAY 2-3: FRANKFURT
Stay 3 nights at a 3-star hotel in Frankfurt
- Arrival at Frankfurt International Airport (FRA)
- Check-in at the hotel and orientation session by your CEPA On-Site Coordinator
- Welcome dinner at a German restaurant
- Guest lecture on “Germany and the Importance of the Automobile Industry for the Economy and People”
- Guided walking tour of Frankfurt
DAY 4: RÜSSELSHEIM
- Visit the Opel production plant in Rüsselsheim, a German automobile company founded by Adam Opel in 1862
- Visit the University RheinMain in Rüsselsheim and meet with faculty and students of their Engineering department

DAY 5-6: MANNHEIM - HEIDELBERG - SINSHEIM - STUTTGART
Stay 1 night at a 3-star hotel in Heidelberg
- Visit EvoBus, one of the leading bus manufacturers worldwide
- Visit the John Deere plant in Mannheim, where engine performance, possible uses, and the latest technological developments are displayed
- Check-in at the hotel and orientation session by your CEPA On-Site Coordinator
- Boat tour on a solar-powered boat on the Neckar River in Heidelberg
- Admission to the Auto and Technik Museum in Sinsheim to explore their over 3,000 exhibits
Stay 4 nights at a 2-star hotel in Stuttgart
- Check-in at the hotel and orientation session by your CEPA On-Site Coordinator
DAY 7-9: STUTTGART
- Visit the Daimler production plant in Stuttgart to see where the engines are being produced
- Visit an automotive supplier, such as Mahle, a pioneer and technology driver for the mobility of the future
- Audio-guided tour of the Mercedes Benz Museum
- Visit the Stuttgart Television Tower, the technical prototype for nearly all television towers throughout the world
- Free day in Stuttgart

DAY 10: AUGSBURG - MUNICH
Stay 4 nights at a 3-star hotel in Munich
- Visit KUKA AG in Augsburg, one of the leading suppliers of robotics and system engineering
- Check-in at the hotel and orientation session by your CEPA On-Site Coordinator
- Free time in Munich
DAY 11-14: MUNICH
- Visit a company, such as TÜV SÜD, one of the world’s leading technical service organizations
- Admission to the Deutsches Museum, one of the first scientific-technological museums in the world
- Visit the MAN production plant, where heavy series with a permissible gross vehicle weight of 18 to 41 tons are manufactured
- Guided tour of the BMW World, showing the brands of the BMW Group in an extraordinary architectural setting
- Free day to further explore the city
- Farewell dinner at a Bavarian restaurant
- Departure from Munich Airport (MUC)

By exploring nearby housing options instead of staying in major European cities, we can minimize our impact on overtourism. Ask us about the "second city" strategy.

Pack light

Every extra kilogram on a plane, train, or bus increases energy consumption. A "carry-on only" rule is a win for both the planet and your back.

Cultural Behaviour

Learn the "Golden Three": Learning "Hello," "Please," and "Thank you" in the local language is more than a courtesy; it signals respect for the local identity and immediately changes the dynamic of your interactions.

Travel routes

By basing a program in one location and building in day excursions, we can minimize the environmental impact.

Eat "KM 0"

Look for restaurants with the "Kilometro Zero" label (common in Italy and Spain), which guarantees ingredients are sourced locally.

Water

Refill Stations: Europe has some of the cleanest tap water in the world. Use apps like Refill to find public fountains and avoid buying plastic bottles.

Climate Action

We offset the carbon footprint of our operations and programs, and plant one native tree for each participant in a CEPA study abroad program.

Travel in the "Shoulder" Season

Visiting in March or October helps distribute income to locals year-round and prevents the "ghost town" effect that happens in tourist hubs during winter.
