Alexandra Mitchell (She/Her)

Vice President of Development and Institutional Relations

With a lifelong passion for art, culture, and international education, Alexandra brings extensive personal and professional experience to the CEPA team. Originally from Nova Scotia, Canada, she has lived, studied, and worked in Paris, France since 1995.

Alexandra joined CEPA in 2025 and has brought to the organization 25 years of experience in study abroad leadership. In her current role, she leads the team’s Institutional Relations and Development departments, as well as overseeing on-site operations at CEPA’s European Study Centers, Academic Affairs, Marketing, and CEPA’s Crisis Management and Health & Safety team. She wears several hats, relishes in working cross-departmentally, and splits her time between Paris, Strasbourg and the Besigheim office.

Alexandra’s own academic journey was profoundly shaped by education abroad. Describing herself as someone who was “addicted to studying abroad” as a student, her formative experiences include a high-school program in Western Europe, then an alternative spring break in the Dominican Republic, a summer program in Italy, and a full academic year in France as a university students. These immersive experiences ultimately inspired a permanent move abroad to pursue graduate studies and a career dedicated to global education.

Academic Background & Expertise

  • MA and DEA in Art History – University of Paris – Sorbonne

  • BA in Art History and French – Washington University in St. Louis

  • Languages: Bilingual in English and French

Why CEPA?

For Alexandra, working at CEPA is an opportunity to be part of a truly mission- and values-driven organization. She is inspired by CEPA’s unique ability to combine high-quality, academically and culturally rich study abroad programs with affordable solutions that improve accessibility for all students. Furthermore, she takes great pride in CEPA’s genuine commitment to environmental sustainability and its dedication to providing an exceptional experience for students, faculty leaders, partner institutions, and employees alike.

“I love how CEPA has found a way to do all the right things for all the right reasons.”

Beyond the office

When not fostering the next generation of global citizens, Alexandra can be found seeking out beauty and art across the world, spending quality time with family and friends, or nurturing her lifelong passion for tennis.

♡ Advice for Students:

“Keep your eye on the ball. Don’t forget to live in the present, say ‘yes’ to opportunities that come your way, and make the most of those experiences every day!”
