Global awareness is the first step towards change as it comprises many elements, for instance knowledge of geography, social, political, and economic systems, institutions, issues, and challenges. Students participating in this study abroad program will benefit from a variety of visits, lectures, and experiences that will enable them to understand international relations and developments as well as cultural diversity. They will be equipped with skills and knowledge necessary to become leading professional policymakers and practitioners in today’s globalized world.

  • DAY 1

    • Overnight flight to Amsterdam, The Netherlands (group flight can be booked separately)
  • DAY 2-4: THE HAGUE - ROTTERDAM

    Stay 3 nights at a 3-star hotel in The Hague

    • Arrival at Amsterdam Schiphol Airport (AMS)
    • Check-in at the hotel and orientation session by your CEPA On-Site Coordinator
    • Guided walking tour of The Hague to hear about its history, the royal family, and what the city is most famous for – peace and justice
    • Welcome dinner at a Dutch restaurant
    • Visit the International Court of Justice (ICJ), the primary judicial organ of the United Nations, to learn about its activities, history, and case law
    • Audio-guided tour of the Peace Palace Visitor Center, which informs about the building itself as well as the institutions that are based in it
    • Guided bus tour of Rotterdam Port, the largest port of Europe
    • Free afternoon in Rotterdam for you to explore the city further on your own
  • DAY 5-8: DELFT-BRUSSELS

    • Guided tour of the Royal Delft Experience to see the only remaining Delft factory from the 17th century

    Stay 4 nights at a 3-star hotel in Brussels

    • Check-in at the hotel and orientation session by your CEPA On-Site Coordinator
    • Guided walking tour of Brussels, the administrative center of the European Union
    • Free afternoon in Brussels for your own explorations
    • Admission to the Atomium, Brussels’ landmark building which was originally constructed for the 1958 Brussels World’s Fair
    • Free afternoon in Brussels for your own explorations
    • Visit the European Commission, the executive branch of the European Union, for a talk on its role and a discussion
    • Visit a consulting agency in Brussels to examine various business models
  • DAY 9-10: MAASTRICHT - TRIER

    • Guided walking tour of Maastricht to learn about the birthplace of the Euro

    Stay 2 nights at a 4-star hotel in Trier

    • Check-in at the hotel and orientation session by your CEPA On-Site Coordinator
    • Guided walking tour of Trier, which claims to be Germany’s oldest city
    • Free afternoon to explore Trier further at your own pace
  • DAY 11: NEUSTADT A.D. WEINSTRASSE - LANDAU - STRASBOURG

    • Guided tour of the Hambach Castle, which has been considered a symbol of democracy since the Hambacher Fest in 1832
    • Free time to explore Landau, a university town and one of the largest wine-growing communities in Germany

    Stay 7 nights at the European Study Center Strasbourg (Château de Pourtalès)

    • Check-in at the Château and orientation session by your CEPA On-Site Coordinator
  • DAY 12-14: STRASBOURG

    • Visit the Council of Europe, the continent’s leading human rights organization with 47 member states
    • Visit the European Parliament, the legislative branch of the European Union and an important forum for political debate and decision-making
    • Guided walking tour of Strasbourg, which has forged an identity founded on the dual influences of France and Germany over the centuries
    • Guided tour of the Historical Museum, which displays Strasbourg’s history from the middle ages to the creation of European institutions
    • Classroom available at the Château for a 3-hour class session
    • Free afternoon to explore Strasbourg further on your own
  • DAY 15: FRANKFURT

    • Visit the Frankfurt Stock Exchange, the largest of the seven stock exchanges in Germany
    • Visit the Deutsche Bundesbank for a presentation on the bank and its role within the Eurosystem
  • DAY 16-17: STRASBOURG - RHEINMÜNSTER - MALSCH

    • Guest lecture on “Cultural Diversity” at the Château, followed by a group discussion
    • Classroom available at the Château for a 3-hour class session
    • Visit a company, such as Trinseo Chemiepark Rheinmünster, to learn about its products during a presentation and tour of the facilities
    • Visit a logistics company, such as Dachser Logistics in Malsch, to get an insight into their operations in Germany and worldwide
  • DAY 18-20: PARIS

    Stay 2 nights at a 3-star hotel in Paris

    • Train tickets from Strasbourg to Paris
    • Check-in at the hotel and orientation session by your CEPA On-Site Coordinator
    • Guided boat tour with the Bateaux Parisiens on the Seine River to see sights such as the Eiffel Tower and Notre-Dame Cathedral
    • Visit the International Chamber of Commerce, the institutional representative of more than 45 million companies in over 100 countries
    • Visit a company, such as Schneider Electric, or an institution, such as the Banque de France, to learn more about their work and internal organization
    • Farewell dinner at a French restaurant
    • Departure from Paris Charles de Gaulle Airport (CDG)

  • All program fees are calculated to include participation of one accompanying faculty or group leader.
