The exploration of Spain’s regional differences starts in Catalonia, which has its own language, strong regional identity, and strives for independence from Spain, similar to the Basque region. The diversity of Spain becomes tangible for the students not only through the works of art at the Prado or Guggenheim Museum, but also through architectural wonders created by Gaudí.

Further excursions across the Iberian Peninsula will expose students to the various cultures and religions that have strongly influenced Spain for centuries.

  • DAY 1

    • Overnight flight to Barcelona, Spain (group flight can be booked separately)
  • DAY 2-5: BARCELONA

    Stay 4 nights at a 3-star hotel in Barcelona

    • Arrival at Barcelona El-Prat Airport (BCN)
    • Check-in at the hotel and orientation session by your CEPA On-Site Coordinator
    • Guided walking tour of Barcelona
    • Welcome dinner at a Catalan restaurant
    • Audio-guided tour of the Montserrat Monastery, including the Museu de Montserrat and the Audiovisual Exhibition “Montserrat Portes Endins”
    • Guided tour of the Sagrada Família, Antoni Gaudí’s masterpiece
    • Admission to the Park Güell, a garden complex with architectural elements
    • Admission to the FCB Museum
    • Free time to further explore the city
  • DAY 6-7: ZARAGOZA

    Stay 2 nights at a 3-star hotel in Zaragoza

    • Visit a winery, such as Cordoníu, for a tour of their facilities and a wine tasting
    • Check-in at the hotel and orientation session by your CEPA On-Site Coordinator
    • Tapas dinner at a Spanish restaurant
    • Guided walking tour of Zaragoza
    • Free time to further explore the city
  • DAY 8-9: PAMPLONA - SAN SEBASTIAN

    • Free time to explore Pamplona

    • Guided walking tour of San Sebastian’s Parte Viejo (Old Town)

  • DAY 10-11: BILBAO

    • Guided tour of the Alcázar in Segovia
    • Audio-guided tour of the Museo del Prado, which features one of the world’s finest collections of European art
    • Free time to further explore Madrid
    • Guided walking and panoramic bus tour of Toledo, a city where Christians, Arabs, and Jews have lived together for centuries
    • Free time to further explore the city
    • Farewell dinner at a Spanish restaurant in Madrid (flamenco show included)

  • All program fees are calculated to include participation of one accompanying faculty or group leader.
