A broader understanding and enhanced knowledge of Europe’s past and present is essential for today’s economic and political leaders in order to succeed.

The focus of this program is to provide students with a broader horizon of the fundamental differences, diverse traditions, and common concerns of the EU member states.

Excursions and visits to important European political, economic, and financial institutions, as well as to multinational and local companies will play an integral role and allow for direct interaction with local experts.

This program includes classroom space at the European Study Center (ESC) Strasbourg.

  • DAY 1

    • Overnight flight to Brussels, Belgium (group flight can be booked separately)

  • DAY 2-4: BRUSSELS

    • Orientation session by your on-site CEPA coordinator
    • Welcome dinner at a Belgian restaurant
    • Guided walking tour of the EU quarter
    • Visit the European Parliament
    • Visit the European External Action Service
    • Visit the European Commission
    • Visit the U.S. Mission to the European Union

  • DAY 5: LUXEMBOURG

    • Visit the European Court of Justice in Luxembourg

  • DAY 6-8: STRASBOURG AND THE ALSACE REGION

    • Comprehensive orientation session
    • Visit the exhibition “The Lieu d’Europe”
    • Guided walking tour of Strasbourg, the “Capital of Europe”
    • Guided bus tour along the Alsation wine route
    • Guided tour of the Haut Koenigsburg Castle
    • Visit to an Alsatian winery (tasting included)
    • Tarte flambée dinner
    • Class session at the Château

  • DAY 9: STUTTGART

    • Visit an automobile production plant

  • DAY 10-15: STRASBOURG

    • Visit the U.S. Consulate General
    • Guest lecture at the European Study Center (ESC) Strasbourg to learn about ADIRA’s business relations network (Département du Bas-Rhin)
    • Visit the Council of Europe
    • Scavanger hunt through Strasbourg
    • Class sessions at the Château

  • DAY 16: HEIDELBERG

    • Company visit in or around Heidelberg
    • Guided tour of the Heidelberg castle
    • Group dinner at a Germany restaurant

  • DAY 17-21: STRASBOURG

    • Guided tour of the Alsation Museum
    • Visit the International Institute of Human Rights
    • Class sessions at the Château

  • DAY 22: NATZWILLER

    • Admission to the former concentration camp Struthof

  • DAY 23: FRANKFURT

    • Visit the German Bundesbank, the European Central Bank, or the Deutsche Börse Group
    • Visit the Federal Financial Supervisory Authority (BaFin)

  • DAY 24: STRASBOURG

    • Free day for course assignments and a class session at the Château

  • DAY 25: VERDUN

    • Guided tour of Fort Douaumont, Douaumont Ossuary, and the battlefields

  • DAY 26-29: STRASBOURG - KEHL

    • Free time for course assignments, class sessions at the Château, and to further explore the region
    • Visit to the Euro-Institute in Kehl

  • DAY 30: FREIBURG

    • Visit the Solar Info Center
    • Guided walking tour of the sustainable district Vauban

  • DAY 31-32: STRASBOURG

    • Class session at the Château
    • Farewell dinner at an Alsatian Restaurant
